IGEL Technology Launches the Most Price Competitive Windows XPe Thin Client from a Major Manufacturer
11 December 2006 Reading, December 11, 2006 - IGEL Technology, the world’s fastest growing major thin client vendor, today announced the most competitively priced Windows XPe based thin client, the IGEL-2510 XP Smart. Based on the latest VIA Eden™ processor and CN700 chipset with VIA V4 bus technology and offering unique features for the price such as dual monitor support, the IGEL-2510 XP Smart has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of just €379/USD429/£259 + VAT.
This new unit in the IGEL product line is aimed at value-driven, Microsoft-oriented customers who want great performance at a great price. This full-featured product is the only thin client available at this price to offer dual screen capability. The device also allows easy central administration and configuration using the bundled IGEL Remote Manager suite. The IGEL-2510 XP Smart comes with ICA and RDP clients, a full Internet Explorer web browser and Microsoft Media Player. The device also supports various external smart card readers for additional security.
“For Microsoft oriented customers looking for a general purpose thin client with great performance, and advanced hardware features at an excellent price, they have their answer in the IGEL-2510 XP Smart,” stated Stephen Yeo, Worldwide Strategic Marketing Director for IGEL Technology. “Because it is based on Windows XPe, it can also support drivers and small local applications that traditionally have run on PCs, making this a low risk option for Microsoft customers running PCs who want to migrate to a thin client architecture. IGEL Technology now has the broadest range of thin clients, supported by one management tool, from a major manufacturer. This allows almost every corner of any organisation to harvest the substantial benefits of thin clients and server based computing.”
The launch of the Smart XPe follows the recent IGEL Technology product line expansion with three new series: the IGEL ProScribe thin client tablet for mobile applications, the IGEL Elegance thin client with integrated 17“ TFT Display and the IGEL PanaVeo quad-display thin client. The expanded IGEL product range allows organisations, with almost any application and in any market, to provide secure, manageable and secure digital access to their infrastructure.
