Digital Services

IGEL supports the broadest set of digital services in the market. No matter what server-based application or data you have, IGEL can probably access it. These are all the categories of digital services that can be found in IGEL's product range.

Server based Windows access
All IGEL devices provide access to server-based Windows applications using Citrix ICA or Microsoft RDP protocols.

Virtualization
IGEL thin clients can access virtual server-based desktops running on VMware using the most popular VDI connection brokers.

Web access
Most IGEL devices come with a native web browser. This allows terminals to access any web site or web-based application, removing the need to host the browser centrally on a server. This saves money and removes a typical performance bottleneck in server-based Windows infrastructures.

Web services
Most IGEL thin clients support .net or J2EE web services, making them very suitable for accessing modern web-based applications.

Text Terminal Emulation
Text terminal emulation allows you to use your IGEL device to access legacy green screen applications using a wide variety of formats such as DEC VT100 or IBM 3270.

Java
Most IGEL devices come with a Java Virtual Machine, allowing the terminal to run any Java application locally. This makes the terminal extremely powerful and removes a potential performance bottleneck from your server infrastructure.

Telecommunications
Most IGEL Linux-based devices can be used as a VoIP telephone using their built-in SIP client. This allows you to consolidate your phone and PC into one device saving money, deskspace and hassle.

ERP access
Some IGEL devices support a native SAP GUI. This provides strong SAP functionality and removes the need to setup server infrastructure to drive a Windows or web-based SAP GUI.

X Window
IGEL Linux-based terminals can access graphical Unix applications that support the X-Windows protocol.

Printing
IGEL devices offer ThinPrint support, allowing bandwidth friendly remote printing from your server-based Windows applications. IGEL Linux based devices also have built in print servers so they can be used to provide inexpensive and manageable remote printing without the expense of buying a network printer (great for light print loads).

Document reader
Most IGEL devices can read PDF files making them suitable for accessing corporate documents on an intranet without having to host any server-based applications.

Multi-Media access
Most IGEL devices come with multi-media clients such as Flash player or Microsoft Media Player out of the box. This allows them to easily output your streaming audio or visual content such as training material, entertainment or digital advertising.

Automated data input
IGEL devices support many different ways of entering data. This includes touch screen  support on our LCD integrated units, smart card encrypted data and voice dictation solutions from industry leaders such as Philips.
