Taunton School

Taunton school opts for thin clients from IGEL Technology to establish a digital language lab and to standardize its computing infrastructure

Taunton School, a British boarding and day school, educates boys and girls from the ages of 2 to 18. The private school is a leading provider of IT education for all age groups with a state-of-the-art IT infrastructure. Both teachers and pupils have their own intranet platform and teleworking access. Even the language lab has gone digital, and online exams are taken on screen. All this has been made possible by a cost-effective server-based computing architecture with low-maintenance IGEL thin clients that give the 1,000 pupils and 350 staff cost-effective access to centralized applications.

Bridgwater College

Bridgwater College deploy IGEL thin clients for management ease.

Bridgwater College, in the west of Somerset, is one of the top performing colleges in England. As a result of a recent merger with a land-based college, it now offers one of the broadest curriculums in the country. The College provides programmes of study for 14-year-olds right through to university level courses. It also has a growing number of international students and works in partnership with business to improve workforce skills. The College has centres in Cannington, Cheddar, Minehead, Yeovil and Paignton catering for approximately 20,000  full and part-time students annually.

Stoke Canon Primary School

IGEL thin clients top of the class at Stoke Canon Primary School.

A primary school in the Devon countryside may at fi rst seem an unlikely setting for technology innovation in education but Stoke Canon Primary School, just outside Exeter, has a history of making good use of IT to assist its 170 pupils. One of the fi rst primary schools to install and network computers in the classroom in the 1980s, Stoke Canon, with the help of its Head Malcolm Hunt, is now at the forefront of the thin client revolution in the classroom. “Our computing infrastructure was beginning to creak and we were looking into upgrading our network and PCs,” said Malcolm Hunt. “We were recommended to look at IGEL thin clients and I was instantly impressed by what I saw.”

Fraunhofer UMSICHT

Freie Universität Berlin

New Philosophical Library incorporates an ultramodern serverless Thin Client solution for catalog and online research

The dedication of the 'Berlin Brain' on 14. September 2005 has given the capital yet another fascinating architectural monument. Designed by the renowned English architect and master builder Lord Norman Foster, the new Philological Library of the Free University is modelled on the human brain, and so combines design, functionality and the effective use of space to impressive effect. The same exceptional combination is also found expressed in the IT facilities. During the merger of eleven sub-libraries, containing over 700,000 books, the Free University developed a unique IT structure for catalog and online research.

Maastricht University

Maastricht University upgrades network and goes digital with IGEL

At present, Holland's Universities and Colleges are very popular. In addition to the bonus of living abroad, the characteristic concept of the "problem based learning" particularly finds favor with foreign students. University of Göttingen

Stadtbildstelle Bremerhaven

Bremerhaven’s city media centre, the Stadtbildstelle Bremerhaven, operates a cost-effective network for contemporary learning using thin clients donated by IGEL Technology.

For the Federal State of Bremen and the harbour city of Bremerhaven, modern, innovative learning concepts are an everyday part of school life. According to an initiative by the Bremen Education Senate every classroom of Bremerhaven’s 40 schools has to provide at least one or two computer workstations. With the help of thin client manufacturer IGEL Technology, the Stadtbildstelle Bremerhaven has achieved this objective with minimum financial outlay.
