Smartcard reader (internal and external)

All IGEL Universal Desktop thin clients support smartcard readers in accordance with the PC/SC standard. All-in-one: Apart from external devices, many Universal Desktop models are available with an optional integrated reader. Regardless of whether internal or external – IGEL Universal Desktops support a variety of solutions for smartcard-based authentication, session roaming and single sign-on.

Features:

• Full support for external SC readers in accordance with the PC/SC standard (memory and processor cards) in all IGEL model series
• Integrated PS/SC reader for the following model series (optional): IGEL UD3, UD5 and UD9 (new)   
• IGEL smartcard solution for secure authentication, single sign-on and session roaming (optional)
• Support for solutions and external devices for processing biometric data such as DigitalPersona
  
  

Deployment scenarios:

• Healthcare: Solutions for reading the health insurance card (KVK) or the electronic health card (eGK) in conjunction with SC readers, for example from Cherry
• Finance: Connection of keyboards with integrated smartcard reader, for example from DESKO or Cherry
• Space-saving: Integrated IGEL smartcard reader, no additional asset management for external readers, fewer USB slots occupied
• Reading electronic passes, such as UZI Pass (NL) or eID (BE) via external readers
