USB Peripherals / USB Redirection
The outstanding connectivity provided by IGEL Universal Desktops also covers peripheral devices. All devices with Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard (WES) always support all Windows-certified USB peripherals. Thin Clients with IGEL Linux offer a wide selection of drivers for all commonly used peripheral devices – and you can be sure that this also applies to virtual desktops.
The Application Scenarios
- Synchronization of PDAs and smart phones within centralized IT infrastructures.
- Network enabling locally connected printers (including the print-server function of a thin client)
- Support for locally connected scanners and hand-held scanners
- Support for memory sticks (if enabled by the system administrator)
The Solutions
Full support of Citrix HDX™, | Full support of VMware View™ 4.5, | Microsoft VDI: USB redirection is possible using third-party solutions such as FabulaTech USB for remote desktops: A comparable software client is already integrated into the IGEL Linux-based Universal Desktop firmware; a similar client offering the same functionality can also be installed for WES. |
