Desktop as a Service provider Colosseum teams with thin client vendor IGEL Technology to provide customers with virtual desktops.
Cincinnati, OH – February 7, 2012 – IGEL Technology, the world's third-largest provider of thin client hardware and software, has signed on Toronto-based Colosseum Online as an Authorized IGEL Partner. Colosseum will now begin offering IGEL thin clients as part of their desktop as a service (DaaS) solutions.
Started in 1994 as a city Internet provider, Colosseum serves customers worldwide. Now with its own on-site data center and partnerships with Red Hat, Citrix, VMware, Microsoft, Cisco and NetApp, Colosseum can provide customers in the government, real estate, manufacturing, finance, and other industries with a variety of secure, virtual desktops. By adding IGEL Universal Desktop thin clients, the company can roll out a comprehensive, end-to-end solution.
"When I met IGEL, I was looking for a Linux-based DaaS thin client that was easy to administer," explains Jean Crescenzi, President, Colosseum. "IGEL's UMS [Universal Management Suite software] makes it easy to deploy and configure desktop devices, control updates, as well as diagnose and fix problems remotely. It is simple and easy to manage, and it has tremendously reduced our time on-site at customers."
“Colosseum Online's approach to delivering the desktop computing experience makes economic sense for organizations looking to lower costs associated with information technology,” says Jeff Kalberg, General Manager, IGEL Technology America. “We are excited about partnering with Colosseum who, as an industry leader in the IT service provider industry, is creating opportunities for businesses to become more competitive by outsourcing their desktop delivery using thin client technology.”
