IGEL Appliance Mode: Efficient and Fast Access to VDI Environments
IGEL’s appliance mode provides fast, convenient and efficient access to virtual desktops.
- After switching on a thin client, the user is immediately taken to the log-on screen for the virtual desktop, bypassing the local thin client interface in the process.
- Choose between direct access to a VDI environment and a need-based delivery of centralized IT and cloud services.
- The appliance mode can be activated and deactivated as needed within the console of the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS) remote management software, which comes standard with IGEL devices.
Fast Boot-ups with integrated Standby Mode
Instead of completely shutting down devices after work has been completed to a certain point, it’s preferable to let them go into standby mode (suspend to RAM). All IGEL devices can go into standby mode, which allows their fast wake-up when they need to be used again. This mode saves valuable work time by avoiding the need for normal, full boot-ups. What’s more, in standby mode power consumption is very low - that means for all IGEL hardware series only 1 watt.
Since the main memory remains supplied with power in standby mode, IGEL thin clients can be operational again within two seconds.
