Firmware customization made easy: IGEL Custom Partition
Do you want to customize IGEL Universal Desktop firmware to meet your specific individual needs? Custom Partition in IGEL Linux and Partial Update for Windows Embedded allow you to do just that – even if you don't have any in-depth knowledge of Shell or scripting!
Customization Is Easy
Other thin client providers dread the thought of customers eager to customize, but we welcome them with open arms! Our supported firmware modification tool IGEL Universal Customization Builder (UCB), an optional extension of the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS), allows us to provide you with optimum support: extensive help and assistance, clearly structured procedures and a user-friendly GUI.
Packaging, Debugging and Versioning through to Rollout!
Regardless of whether you use IGEL Linux or Microsoft Windows Embedded, the IGEL Customization Builder (UCB) has numerous templates for all IGEL firmware, for example, for integrating special drivers or setting registry keys. IGEL Customization Builder (UCB) can also handle packaging, debugging and versioning for you, and rollouts can be automated and handled safely and efficiently via IGEL UMS.
Custom Partition for IGEL Linux
Custom Partition is a memory area made freely available to customers and can be used in conjunction with the Universal Customization Builder (UCB). Custom Partition can be found on the relevant storage medium and integrates into the relevant Linux firmware. A wide variety of software drivers1, clients and tools and also company-specific applications can be implemented here, for example, in order to support special peripheral devices. And with the help of the IGEL Customization Builder (UCB), this can now be carried out directly, and without any Linux knowledge.
Partial Update for Windows Embedded
Partial Update provides the same range of functions as Custom Partition, but can be used to customize IGEL firmware with the Windows Embedded OS based on requirements. With a partial update, individual firmware components can be updated over the network, conserving bandwidth. This means, for example, that you can roll out a new version of Citrix Receiver all on its own instead of a complete firmware image with 1 GB or more.
