Microsoft RemoteFX on IGEL Linux Thin Clients
Microsoft® RemoteFX™ is a protocol extension for the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) included in the service pack 1 for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2.
What does RemoteFX do?
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 will be taking advantage of this release to accelerate delivery of new features, mainly desktop virtualization capabilities meeting increasing needs of customers.
Microsoft RemoteFX leverages the power of virtualized graphics resources and advanced codecs to recreate the fidelity of hardware-assisted graphics acceleration, including support for 3D content and Windows Aero, on a remote user’s device. This allows for a local-like, remote user experience over a variety of possible host, client and network configurations. Dynamic Memory is a new memory management feature of Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V.
IGEL RemoteFX Support - The first and only Linux implementation on the market
The Linux-based Universal Desktop thin clients UD3, UD5 and UD9 as well as the IGEL Universal Desktop Converter (UDC) software support Microsoft RemoteFX. This means that any content can now be displayed remotely on a Linux-based thin client, providing a high quality user experience, without the need for any locally installed codecs or multimedia redirection.
