Rapid, secure endpoint access with IGEL Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery™

Recover secure access without rebuilding every endpoint first

IGEL Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery™ (BC&DR) creates an alternate endpoint operating path based on IGEL OS™, an immutable operating system for secure endpoint access. During a security incident, outage, or ransomware event, IGEL’s Emergency Mode gives IT administrators centralized control to reboot one, several, or all IGEL Dual Boot-enabled Windows devices into IGEL OS. The affected Windows environment is preserved while users reconnect to approved applications, virtual desktops, communication services, and recovery environments.

IGEL BC&DR keeps devices operating in IGEL OS, enabling secure access to critical applications and services while preserving the Windows partition for investigation and remediation until administrators determine it is safe to reintroduce.

Windows Compromise Becomes a
Workforce Crisis

Ransomware was present in 44% of breaches reviewed in Verizon’s 2025 DBIR—an increase of 37% year over year. IGEL BC&DR provides a prepared alternative to the at-risk Windows environment, enabling administrators to reboot affected endpoints into IGEL OS while preserving Windows for investigation.

Manual Endpoint Recovery Cannot
Scale

Sophos found that 47% of ransomware victims required more than one week to recover fully. IGEL Emergency Mode allows administrators to centrally reboot one device, selected groups, or broad populations of Dual Boot-enabled endpoints into IGEL OS without waiting to reimage or replace each device.

Infrastructure Recovery Is Not
Workforce Recovery

IBM reports that nearly 90% of breached organizations experienced operational disruption, while only one-third had fully recovered at the time of the study. IGEL BC&DR restores secure access to communications, applications, and critical services in minutes.

Administrator-led incident control

IGEL BC&DR Emergency Mode gives administrators centralized control of endpoint environments during an incident. User disruption is minimized and risk of users accidentally returning to a non-safe state is eliminated.

Manage recovery from a central console

Use IGEL Universal Management Suite to centrally configure recovery workspaces, distribute policies and licenses, manage updates, and maintain a consistent endpoint experience across distributed users and locations.

Preserve the compromised Windows environment

Run the recovery workspace from IGEL OS™, an immutable operating system, while leaving the affected Windows partition untouched. This helps reduce reinfection risk and preserves the original environment for investigation and recovery.

Prepare, test, and validate the recovery plan

IGEL BC&DR Services support implementation, tabletop exercises, testing, and recovery validation, so organizations can confirm that endpoint recovery processes align with broader business continuity objectives before disruption occurs.

Support compliance with standards

Reduce endpoint complexity to help align with mandates for global cybersecurity regulations such as NIST CSF, NIS2, CER, GDPR, HIPAA 2, and DORA.

Restore secure access remotely

IGEL Dual Boot™ allows IT to restart compromised or unavailable endpoints into a trusted environment and regain access to critical applications without replacing the device. Or recover via secure USB using an IGEL UD Pocket to boot supported x86-64 devices—no changes to the endpoint operating system required.

What IGEL BC&DR Delivers

Restore user productivity in minutes

Give users secure access to critical SaaS, VDI, DaaS, and communication applications in minutes, helping the organization maintain essential operations while production systems are being recovered.

Remove need for back up devices

Recover user access to their existing endpoint hardware. No delays for replacement device delivery, no reimaging compromised endpoints. Minimize downtime, reduce endpoint recovery costs.

Manage endpoint recovery at scale

Centrally manage configurations, policies, and recovery actions across distributed endpoints, giving IT teams consistent control and helping user recovery keep pace with business recovery objectives.

Reduce recovery costs

Eliminate hidden costs of procuring backup devices, IT resources for reimaging devices, and end-user downtime by securely rebooting existing, in-place devices.

Preserve incident forensics

The Windows partition is contained, and exploits are preserved to enable analysis of vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and threats.

How IGEL BC&DR compares

Recovery consideration Traditional approach IGEL BC&DR
Primary objective Repair, reimage, or replace the endpoint Recover secure access to applications
Recovery hardware Replacement or rebuilt device may be required Existing device is reused
Execution Manual and device-by-device Centrally controlled with Emergency Mode
Recovery timeframe Hours or days Access restored in minutes
Windows environment Modified, wiped, or remediated Preserved for remediation
User involvement Depends on user instructions and actions Administrator-led through UMS
Application access Delayed until endpoint recovery completes Browser, VDI/DaaS, native apps, or PWAs
Operational model Recovery and remediation are coupled Access continuity and remediation proceed separately
