IGEL Ranks No. 60 on Inc. Magazine’s List of California’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies

Companies on the 2021 Inc. 5000 Regionals: California list had an average growth rate of 535%

SAN FRANCISCO, March 16, 2021 –  IGEL, provider of the next-gen edge OS for cloud workspaces, announced today that it ranked #60 on its second annual Inc. 5000 Regionals: California list, the most prestigious ranking of the fastest-growing California-based private companies. Born of the annual Inc. 5000 franchise, this regional list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the California economy’s most dynamic segment—its independent small businesses. IGEL’s ranking on the Inc. 5000 Regionals: California list follows its debut at #581 last fall on the Inc. 5000 list.

Led by CEO Jed Ayres, who is widely recognized for the transformational impact he is making on the end user computing industry, IGEL began its pivot from a hardware-centric to a software-first company in 2016. Today, the company aligns with the world’s most prominent cloud providers including Citrix, Microsoft and VMware, to transform end user computing by simplifying and securing the cloud-delivery of all needed applications and resources.

Over the last five year, IGEL has experienced triple-digit growth in billings, margin and units. For the year ending December 31, 2020, IGEL increased revenues from recurring software products and services by over 150% year-over-year worldwide, supported by IGEL’s growing channel partner ecosystem. Today, IGEL OS is operating on more than four million edge devices and counting. Last month, IGEL announced that TA Associates (“TA”), a leading global growth private equity firm, took a majority investment in the company. TA joined existing IGEL investor C. Melchers GmbH & Co. KG (“Melchers”), which has been IGEL’s primary investor since its founding in 2001 and will maintain a significant equity interest in the company.

Ayres said, “The last year has been especially challenging for both IGEL and our partners, but it has also presented tremendous opportunity with the new remote work paradigm. We are tremendously honored to be featured by Inc. magazine as one of California’s fastest-growing companies, and are grateful to our employees, our partners and our customers for believing in the IGEL vision of simple, secure, device-independent delivery of cloud workspaces — anywhere. Together we are accomplishing great things and look forward to an even brighter future at the EUC revolution continues to take hold.”

The companies on Inc. 5000 Regionals: California list show stunning rates of growth across all industries in California. Between 2017 and 2019, these 250 private companies had an average growth rate of 535 percent and, in 2019 alone, they employed more than 40,000 people and added nearly $7 billion to the California economy. Companies based in major metro areas—Los Angeles, the Bay Area, and San Diego—brought in the highest revenue overall.

Complete results of the Inc. 5000 Regionals: California, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, metro area, and other criteria, can be found at https://www.inc.com/inc5000/regionals/california starting March 16, 2021.

“This list proves the power of companies in California no matter the industry,” says Inc. editor-in-chief Scott Omelianuk. “The impressive revenues and growth rates prove the insight and diligence of CEOs and that these businesses are here to stay.”
