COLOGNE and SAN FRANCISCO – April 27, 2023 – R. STAHL and IGEL, provider of the managed endpoint operating system for secure access to any digital workspace, announced today that R. STAHL has joined the IGEL Ready program as a technology partner. R. STAHL has just launched the latest generation of explosion-protected HMIs for Zone 1 / 21 and Class 1 Div. 2, and will use the IGEL Ready products for these.
The increasing digitalisation and integration of production processes is generating a host of information that needs to be available in the field and thus also in hazardous areas. This information includes system status, maintenance intervals and MES-relevant data. To meet this demand, R. STAHL has launched the fully modular ORCA HMI operator stations. They give system operators in the process industry a much better overview of the many types of process information generated by the system. In addition to a 22″ operator station, the new ORCA device platform also comprises a panel-mount device with three different display sizes (12″, 15″, 22″) for easy integration into the machine.
This new ORCA HMI generation features the new wireless EasyConnect click-fit system. The Electronics Box (E-Box) and the Display Box (D-Box) are two separate modules that are connected and easily combined via a click-fit system. This modular concept means the ORCA is not just an HMI, but a technological system that can be replaced, upgraded or simply maintained for the next 15 years.
The new ORCA platform has been developed for process and machine operation in the pharmaceutical, chemical, food and drinks industry as well as in biotechnology and life sciences. The modular operator stations and panel-mount devices are the perfect solution for Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22 as well as Class I & II, Division 2 and Class III – with international certifications and, on request, also suitable for Class I Division 1 (Ex p).
As an IGEL Ready partner, R. STAHL tested and released the HMIs with the IGEL OS to ensure that customers can take full advantage of the powerful combination of hardware and software.
