AI Armor: From Endpoint Protection to a Platform-Wide Trust Fabric

AI is changing what happens on the endpoint.

Every application running on an endpoint has a lifecycle. It was created somewhere. It contains components, dependencies and potentially AI models. It was packaged, published, distributed and ultimately allowed to execute.

Security therefore cannot begin with execution.

Trust needs to travel with the application throughout its lifecycle.

That is where the broader vision for AI Armor becomes important.

AI dramatically increases the importance of this approach because the distinction between an application and its behavior is becoming less clear.

Software is no longer necessarily a static collection of predefined functions. AI-enabled applications can interpret information, generate content, make recommendations and increasingly take actions.

The emergence of agentic AI accelerates this evolution. As software gains greater autonomy, controlling what applications and AI workloads are permitted to do — and what resources they are permitted to use — becomes even more important.

The answer cannot simply be to block AI.

Enterprises want the productivity and innovation AI can deliver. The challenge is enabling it within boundaries organizations can understand, govern and trust.

From Security Feature to Trust Fabric

This is why we see AI Armor as something broader than endpoint protection.

It is a platform-wide trust fabric.

The goal is to create layers of trust throughout the software lifecycle: helping ensure that applications originate from trusted sources, move through controlled distribution channels, and execute within defined boundaries on the endpoint.

This also builds naturally on IGEL’s preventative approach to endpoint security. Rather than attempting to detect every possible threat after it arrives, the better strategy is to reduce opportunities for unwanted software and behavior in the first place.

AI adds a new dimension to that philosophy.

Organizations will increasingly need to govern not only which applications can run, but also which AI capabilities can run, where they can run, what resources they can access, and what authority they are given.

Those decisions cannot live in one isolated security control. They need to become part of the platform itself.

There is an important distinction here.

Security should not become the reason enterprises cannot take advantage of AI. Done correctly, security is what makes broader adoption possible.

Organizations need confidence that they can introduce new applications, models and AI-powered capabilities without surrendering governance of the endpoint.
