IGEL AI Armor™: Securing Comprehensive Protection for all Workloads.

At Now & Next Miami IGEL announced further advancements to IGEL AI Armor™ an upcoming security framework to protect enterprise AI usage.

IGEL OS, the secure endpoint operating system enforces IGEL’s Preventative Security Model™, solves another CIO and CISO challenge: The use of Artificial Intelligence in enterprises.

Artificial Intelligence has already become a standard feature; employees use AI-enhanced native applications, browser-based tools like Copilot or ChatGPT, and even deploy containerized or virtualized ML inference to workloads. This shift is accelerating productivity, but it is also introducing entirely new risks that existing endpoint security solutions were never designed to address.

The reality is that AI workloads come with a different attack surface. Beyond the usual threats of malware or data exfiltration, organizations must now contend with AI-specific dangers such as trusting the wrong model, unauthorized usage of NPUs, and compliance breaches under regulations like GDPR and HIPAA. These are not hypothetical risks—they are already emerging in real-world deployments. Unfortunately, security tools in traditional endpoints fall short in protecting against them.

IGEL AI Armor—a new security framework

To solve this shortfall, IGEL is introducing IGEL AI Armor—a new security framework designed from the ground up to protect enterprise AI usage at the endpoint. At its core, the solution ensures only trusted applications and models can run, distributed exclusively through the IGEL App Portal, where every module is signed, validated, and approved. This prevents unauthorized or compromised AI software from ever reaching the endpoint.

As a first at Now & Next Miami, IGEL shows a local AI application Ollama running on IGEL OS, with models being securely packaged and distributed via the IGEL App Portal only. IGEL’s implementation of Ollama will provide prompt-based interaction as well as file transfer, allowing for typical AI-related tasks such as summarization, rewriting, translation.

On top of this, IGEL AI Armor introduces a Runtime Wrapper: a lightweight, dynamic security layer that spans across environments, including endpoints equipped with NPUs and GPUs. This wrapper enables organizations to apply consistent security policies – such as selectively enabling access to compute resources, model and prompt configuration, while an AI Policy Engine with compliance templates ensures IT teams can centrally enforce rules through IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS), adding the new capabilities to the familiar, single pane of glass. These controls govern both resource allocation and compliance thresholds, giving enterprises full visibility and control.

Valuable Operational Intelligence Telemetry

Finally, every endpoint protected by IGEL AI Armor™ generates valuable operational intelligence. Through a Telemetry Wrapper, resource usage data is securely sent to IGEL Insights™, giving IT leaders visibility into how AI workloads are running across their organization. This not only strengthens compliance and performance monitoring but also supports continuous improvement of AI governance strategies.

With IGEL AI Armor, enterprises can confidently embrace AI at the edge—knowing their workloads, data, and compliance posture are protected by a security framework purpose-built for the AI era.

IGEL’s efforts to secure workplace AI usage does not stop at the operating system: At Now & Next Miami IGEL presents its integration with IGEL Ready partner Island, make of its eponymous enterprise browser product. Using Island on IGEL OS is a winning combination of secure platform and secure application, to regulate and protect cloud AI use within the context of the web browser.
