City of Corona Wins Globee® in 6th Annual American Best in Business Awards

California city recognized as a Gold Globee winner for blazing trails in its move to cloud workspaces with IGEL, Citrix and Microsoft during the COVID-19 pandemic

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 5, 2021 – IGEL, provider of the next-gen edge OS for cloud workspaces, today announced The Globee® Awards, organizers of world’s premier business awards programs and business ranking lists, has named City of Corona, a Gold Globee® winner in the 6th Annual 2021 American Best in Business Awards.

City of Corona was recognized for “Best Government Response – Helping People and Businesses During COVID-19” due to its ability to quickly pivot to work-from-home in March 2020, after California’s safer-at-home mandate went into effect, with the help of IGEL, Citrix, and Microsoft. Chris McMasters, CIO, City of Corona said, “Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of our employees did not understand the ability to work from home. This has become the biggest game-changer for our organization since adopting IGEL, Citrix and Microsoft. The flexibility afforded by their cloud workspace solution has enabled us to keep operating– and in some cases has saved jobs.”

City of Corona reports the flexibility of working from home in the cloud is also driving employee satisfaction. “For our employees who have dealt with caring for children and other family members at home, giving them 24/7 access to their cloud desktops has enabled them to adjust their work schedules to accommodate their families and other responsibilities, while still being productive and adding value,” McMasters added.

“Congratulations to City of Corona on being recognized for its innovation and leadership as part of the American Best in Business Awards,” said Simon Clephan, Vice President of Strategic Alliances, IGEL. “IGEL is proud to have played a role in enabling City of Corona to quickly turn its largely on-premises workforce into a remote work success story. Together with Citrix and Microsoft, we provided the city with scalable, easy to manage and deploy endpoint computing solutions offering seamless and secure connectivity and collaboration in the cloud, while at the same time promoting worker health, safety and satisfaction.”
