One App. One Experience. Introducing IGEL for Windows.

One App. One Experience. Introducing IGEL for Windows.

At IGEL Now & Next in Miami, we are proud to unveil a major milestone for organizations embracing cloud workspaces: the IGEL for Windows app.

Enterprises everywhere are accelerating their move to Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) to deliver secure, flexible Windows experiences from the cloud. At the same time, they are looking for endpoints that are simpler to manage, more secure by design, and purpose-built for modern work. Today, we’re bringing these worlds together.

IGEL for Windows delivers a unified, intuitive way to access Windows cloud workspaces directly from IGEL OS. It brings together access to Windows 365 Cloud PCs, Azure Virtual Desktop sessions, and published applications in a single streamlined app designed for both simplicity and performance.

Built on Microsoft’s RDClient SDK for Linux and developed in close collaboration with Microsoft, the IGEL for Windows app is designed to deliver a Windows cloud workspace experience on IGEL OS endpoints. The experience is aligned with the modern Windows workspace experience Microsoft delivers through the Windows App, giving organizations a familiar and consistent way to access their Windows environments from Linux-based endpoints.

The goal is simple: make secure access to Windows cloud workspaces effortless for users and easy to manage for IT.

One App for the Modern Windows Workspace – One Seamless Experience

As organizations adopt cloud desktops at scale, we consistently hear the same feedback from customers: they want one simple way to access all their Windows cloud resources.

Many organizations run a mix of Windows 365 Cloud PCs and Azure Virtual Desktop environments. Previously, IGEL supported these with separate applications — the IGEL AVD App and the IGEL Windows 365 App.

With the IGEL for Windows app, those experiences come together in a single unified client.

Users are presented with a clean, familiar interface that displays their available resources as desktop and application tiles, clearly identifying:

  • Windows 365 Cloud PCs
  • Azure Virtual Desktop sessions
  • Published applications

This familiar layout reduces friction and allows users to launch their workspace in seconds.

For Windows 365 users, the app also supports Cloud PC controls, allowing users to perform actions such as restarting or renaming their Cloud PC directly from the client interface.

Simplicity for IT Teams

While the user experience is straightforward, the power of the IGEL platform remains in centralized management and secure endpoint control.

The IGEL for Windows app is delivered through the IGEL App Portal, making deployment easy for IT teams:

  • Add the IGEL for Windows app to your UMS environment
  • Assign it through your endpoint profiles
  • Deploy it seamlessly across your IGEL OS devices

Organizations already using the IGEL AVD app will also benefit from a smooth transition, as existing profiles continue to work with the new app architecture. This means customers can adopt the new experience quickly while maintaining the operational simplicity IGEL environments are known for.

Built for the Future of Cloud Workspaces

As the workplace continues to evolve, the endpoint plays a critical role in delivering secure, reliable access to cloud resources. Organizations need solutions that reduce complexity while ensuring the highest levels of security and control.

IGEL for Windows extends the Microsoft Windows workspace experience to IGEL OS endpoints, bringing together the flexibility of Microsoft’s cloud desktops with the security, performance, and manageability of IGEL OS.

Together with Microsoft, we are enabling organizations to confidently deliver secure Windows workspaces from the cloud to any user, anywhere.
