From NoTouch to IGEL OS 12: A Seamless Migration Path for Stratodesk Customers
Earlier this year, IGEL proudly completed the acquisition of Stratodesk, bringing together two pioneers in endpoint operating systems with one shared vision — to simplify and secure the intelligent edge.
The Stratodesk NoTouch OS to IGEL OS 12 Migration Tool gives every Stratodesk customer a direct, supported, and fully automated path to join the IGEL OS 12 ecosystem. It’s the easiest way to move forward without disruption — no manual re-imaging, no data loss, and minimal downtime.
With IGEL OS 12 customers migrate to a platform designed for Zero Trust, unified management, and sustainable performance. IGEL delivers a secure and dynamic workspace with the IGEL Adaptive Secure Desktop™ and the IGEL Preventative Security Model™. The migration tool is what makes that possible. It gives Stratodesk customers a simple, guided route into the IGEL OS 12 experience, allowing them to take advantage of , policy-driven OS with a broad hardware support, and seamless integration with the IGEL App Portal and Universal Management Suite (UMS).
This is more than a migration — it’s a transition into a long-term, secure foundation for innovation at the edge.
The migration journey starts right inside the NoTouch Center. Administrators simply deploy the conversion tool as they would any regular NoTouch update. Once initiated, the system performs a series of compatibility checks to ensure the device meets the necessary requirements — including 4 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage, x86 64-bit architecture, and UEFI boot support.
When the conversion begins, the process automatically retains key connectivity settings such as Wi-Fi credentials, proxy configurations, DNS servers, and hostnames. This means that once the system reboots into IGEL OS 12, the device reconnects to the network instantly — ready for integration into your IGEL UMS environment.
After two clean reboots, the device emerges fully converted and fully functional, appearing within IGEL’s Universal Management Suite (UMS) as a managed IGEL endpoint.
To ensure a flawless rollout, IGEL recommends testing the migration on a few representative devices before deploying at scale. Once converted, the process is final — there’s no rollback to NoTouch OS — but the gain is immediate: tighter integration, enhanced security, and a unified management layer under UMS.
All conversions require supported x86 hardware running NoTouch OS 3.7.253 or higher, with UEFI boot enabled. Devices should remain connected through the NoTouch Center during the conversion. Comprehensive documentation and enterprise support are available to guide every stage of the process.
For Stratodesk customers, this means continuity and investment protection. For IGEL partners, it simplifies onboarding and integration. For the community, it expands the collective foundation for secure, intelligent edge computing.
The migration resources, step-by-step documentation, and downloads are available on the IGEL Knowledge Base and Customer Portal.
